About the Event
*PLEASE NOTE – This is a 2-Day course, as per NRA policy students MUST attend the ENTIRE course!
The NRA BIT (Basic Instructor Training) will be held on Friday, Sep 22nd and is a REQUIREMENT for any NRA Instructor Certification. If you have taken the BIT in the previous 24 months (Proof required) you will not need to take it again.
As Per NRA Policy
To qualify as an NRA Instructor:
- Candidates must have completed the basic course in the discipline they wish to be certified to teach, e.g. NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting (Instructor Led Only), NRA Basic Rifle Shooting, etc.
- Candidates must possess and demonstrate a solid background in firearm safety and shooting skills acquired through previous firearm training and/or previous shooting experience. Instructor candidates must be intimately familiar with each action type in the discipline for which they wish to be certified.
- Candidates will be required to demonstrate solid and safe firearm handling skills required to be successful during an instructor training course by completing pre-course questionnaires and qualification exercises administered by the NRA Certified Training Counselor.
- Candidates must satisfactorily complete an NRA Instructor Training Course in the discipline they wish to teach (e.g., NRA Basic Pistol Course), and receive the endorsement of the NRA Training Counselor conducting that training.
REQUIRED ITEMS & OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
· (1) 3-INCH 3 ring Binder: You can put your NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting ILT & Blended ILT in it, you will receive your Trainers Guide to add to it the day of the course.
· Laptop / iPad (If you’ve chosen to download your courses)
· The Basics of Pistol Shooting book you received in the student portion of the course
· Handgun if you have NOT yet completed your shooting pre-qualification with us (if you have shot a level 4 with any other instructor, shooting at our course is still required) at the NRA Basics of Pistol Course
· 60 rounds of ammo (minimum needed is 20)

· An NRA number or existing NRA Instructor number. Non-members who are not yet instructors will have to wait for their non-member instructor number (this could potentially take months) to be assigned and sent to them by email. This will happen AFTER they have been processed by the NRA Training Department. Once non-members receive their NRA non-member number they can register and complete processing. IF THEY JOIN DURING THE COURSE, they will also have to wait. Membership BEFORE the course is most expedient!
